GUWAHATI: PM Narendra Modi on Thursday kicked off multiple road, water, and digital connectivity projects worth Rs 9,500 crore in poll-bound Assam through videoconference.
The projects include inland waterways to provide an alternative link with the northeast. Modi also laid foundation for the country’s longest bridge (19km) over the Brahmaputra. Modi said: “For years, this river was synonymous with socialising and not so much work related on connectivity on the Brahmaputra has been done earlier. Now, the projects are on fast track to reduce the distances geographically and culturally.”
