JAIPUR: Fresh trouble is brewing against Rajasthan’s Ashok Gehlot-government. At least three Congress legislators from the Sachin Pilot camp have alleged discrimination against lawmakers from the SC, ST and minority communities at the “party, government and assembly levels”.
Ramesh Meena, Murari Lal Meena and Ved Prakash Solanki were among the 19 MLAs, including Pilot, who revolted against Gehlot’s leadership in July 2020. They alleged that their constituencies were ignored in the state budget and many ministers routinely treated them badly.
“We’ve sought time from Rahul Gandhi. If things don’t improve even after we discuss this with him, we won’t hesitate to resign,” Ramesh Meena said on Friday. “I want Congress to be strong and want a check on those who are doing whatever they feel like,” he added. Party sources said Congress chief whip Mahesh Joshi has been sent to Delhi to do the firefighting. A day earlier he tried to pacify the MLAs by saying that SCs, STs and minorities formed the Congress backbone.
It started with Ramesh targeting Speaker CP Joshi in the house on Wednesday over the seating arrangement and calling it biased against legislators from the SC, ST and minority communities.
