Drones sighted over Samba, Jalandhar shortly after PM’s address, blackout on | Latest News India


Drones were sighted over Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba and Punjab’s Jalandhar, a development that came shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation on Monday.

Meanwhile, locals also heard 7-8 explosions in Dasuya area of Punjab’s Hoshiarpur. Follow India-Pakistan news LIVE updates

An immediate blackout was enforced in the affected areas, and Pathankot, Vaishno Devi Bhawan, as well as the Yatra track.

Around 15 drones were seen hovering above the Northern Command and Air Force Station in Udhampur. Around 5 were spotted towards Katra

Visuals from Samba showed red streaks and explosion sounds in the background, with India’s air defence getting activated and intercepting the aerial objects.

Jalandhar district collector also issued an urgent message over drone sightings near key army establishment in the city. Explosions were also heard near Suranasi village of Jalandhar district.

“Deputy commissioner Himanshu Aggarwal said, “As a precautionary measure, lights have been switched off in some areas around Suranassi as there have been reports of some drone sightings. We are verifying them. There is no blackout as of now. There is nothing to worry as confirmed by officials of the Armed Forces. They are on regular vigil as always,” the message read. 

Hoshiarpur Deputy Commissioner Aashika confirmed that some explosions were heard in the Dasuya area. 

“We have already coordinated with the Indian armed forces, which have told the administration that they have been engaging with drone sightings in the area,” she said.

She added that on the basis of their inputs, the blackout has been imposed in Dasuya and Mukeria areas of the district.

Drone sightings just after PM Narendra Modi’s address

The drone sightings happened shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Operation Sindoor and the hostilities with Pakistan.

In his address, PM Modi blasted Islamabad for cross-border terrorism, asserting that talks and terror, blood and water cannot go hand in hand.

“Terror and talks cannot coexist. Terror and trade cannot go hand in hand. Water and blood can never flow together,” said Modi in his address to the nation.
