NEW DELHI: Climate activist Disha Ravi, who was sent to five-day police custody on Sunday, will now have access to her lawyer, get time to talk with family, warm clothes, books and home-cooked food.
A Delhi court on Tuesday also directed Delhi police to hand over a copy of the FIR and other documents related to her arrest. Chief metropolitan magistrate Pankaj Sharma directed the police to provide her the copies of the arrest memo and remand paper, which was placed to seek her custodial interrogation.
Disha can speak with her family members over phone for 15 minutes a day and meet her lawyer for 30 minutes a day, while she is in police custody, the court said on an application filed by Ravi, now armed with a regular lawyer.
She was arrested from her Bengaluru residence on Saturday for allegedly editing and sharing a “toolkit” on social media related to the farmers’ protest. The police claimed that her custodial interrogation was needed to probe an alleged larger conspiracy against the government.
