India successfully flew another batch of 246 Indian nationals to Mumbai on Thursday, who were earlier evacuated from Sudan to Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah in the ongoing ‘Operation Kaveri‘ to rescue stranded nationals from the conflict-ridden northeast African nation.

The Indian Air Force’s C-17 Globemaster heavy lift aircraft has brought back the Indian nationals to their motherland.

Those who were evacuated thanked PM Modi and the Indian government’s efforts and arrangements to bring back the stranded nationals to their homeland.

One of the evacuees who returned to Mumbai from Jeddah, while speaking to news agency ANI said, “I want to thank the Indian govt for bringing us safely. They made all arrangements including food. All things were perfect. We are happy”.

“Our country is great. May PM Modi live for 1,000 years,” an elderly woman said.

One of the evacuees, Avtar Singh said, “We are feeling happy as we’ve returned to our home. The rescue operation is going on at a fast pace. We are satisfied with the government.

Nisha Mehta, one of the citizens who landed in Mumbai said, “Thanks to PM Modi, India. We are happy that we’ve returned to our country.”

Second batch of 246 Indian nationals stuck in war-torn Sudan arrived in Mumbai from Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah on Thursday. On Wednesday, the first batch of 360 Indians were carried in a chartered flight and brought to Delhi.

External affairs minister S Jaishankar shared the images of the evacuated citizens on his Twitter handle and said, “Another #OperationKaveri flight comes to Mumbai. 246 more Indians come back to the motherland”.

Meanwhile, minister of state for External Affairs V Muraleedharan is in Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah to oversee the rescue operation of the citizens. On Thursday, he informed that around 1,100 Indians have been safely evacuated from strife-torn Sudan.

A total of 495 Indians are currently in Jeddah, while another 320 are in Port Sudan. One Indian from Kerala has been killed in the violence so far .

India on Monday launched ‘Operation Kaveri‘ to evacuate its citizens stranded in Sudan amid the intense fighting between the country’s army troops and rival paramilitary force. Two C-130J medium lift aircraft of the IAF stationed in Saudi Arabia and naval warships will make sorties across the Red Sea to take the Indians arriving in Port Sudan to Jeddah.
